Toric Contact Lenses
Toric contact lenses are uniquely engineered to help correct astigmatism. This is a condition in which the cornea is shaped irregularly--it's more oblong than spherical. Because of this shape, there are two focal points (instead of one) and objects will appear blurry to the viewer. Toric contact lenses have two different optical powers, with curvatures at right angles, that remove any distortion. One of these powers corrects the astigmatism, while the other corrects either nearsightedness or farsightedness.

ShopLens is committed to helping those with astigmatism get the lenses that their doctors have prescribed. We carry top of the line brands, from Proclear to Biomedics to Frequency 55 to Acuvue. It's especially important to have your eye doctor fit your toric lenses because they are designed to remain in one place on the eye--they won't slide or move. It's very important that they fit well and adhere comfortably to the surface of your eye. Only an eye doctor can ensure a toric lens is fitting properly.

Better Toric Contact Lenses
Of course, good eye care begins with good contact lens care. Make sure to clean and/or dispose of your lenses according to your doctor's instructions. Wearing disposable contacts for too long can cause soreness or redness and potentially exacerbate existing eye conditions. It's not uncommon for optometrists to make small changes in a patient's prescription over time until the lens fits and works perfectly. Be sure to communicate any changes in your vision or discomfort to your optometrist--a simple prescription alteration may be all that is needed.

Since we can provide the precise prescriptions recommended by your eye doctor, we're a great place to go, regardless of the severity of your astigmatism. We have a huge selection of in-stock lenses, and we can always work directly with manufacturers to locate more specific parameters, should we not carry your particular prescription. We also ship directly to your door for maximum convenience.
